A figure sculpture in clay working with a live model. Approximately 24" high and represents roughly 25 hours of effort.

A couple of Halloween-themed drawings...

This one is a water-color that's more than a little Discworld inspired...

A similar sketch on the iPad:

These are just some attempts at doodling/copying fabulous drawings from Gris Grimly's Grimericks

A little color pencil sketch:
It's ok if you find it disturbing. I do too...

A whimsical acrylic on canvas piece titled Doppleganger, primarily an experiment with transfering a printed image onto an acrylic-ready surface:

This is an abstract piece partly inspired by Mark Rothko's work ... I was experimenting with Rothko's technique (layer upon layer of thin light glazes on a dark background) to see if I could 'capture the glow' in the lighter layer. (it's a bit hard to photograph correctly though)

(Finally, the 50th post). An abstract acrylic-on-panel painting that turned out a bit to bright for my liking. Back to the drawing board (quite literally!) on this one...

A fauvist portrait of a real-life model.

First comes the raw sketch along with a color study and a value study:

Here's the value study in more detail. This is done using a 2 color palette (+ white):

Now, with the application of color. At this stage it looks like quite the mess:

And here is the final completed portrait (with much experimentation in color):

A still life with onion, red pungent onion.
